Are you looking for the best way of getting from Oslob to Bohol?

If you're planning to visit Oslob and then Bohol, you would have searched all over the internet to try and find the best solution to getting there as quickly, cheerfully and cheap as possible!

I was at Moalboal at the time and was staying at the Asian Belgian Dive resort. They advised me not to waste my time by driving all the way back up to Cebu City.

Since I was going to Oslob for the whale watching which would take place at 7 am. I can take a boat which fits a good 60 people from near the briefing station. The boat goes straight to Panglao, which gives plenty of time to see Oslob.

The Boat itself

Wooden boat with an open deck. Wooden seats all around. Three quarters of it is covered with a visor for protection from the sun.

Boat Timings

11 am & 12 pm only! Make sure to get there on time!

Booking the boat

I don’t advise just turning up as the space is limited to 60 people. You will need the hotel you would be staying at to book your space with a guy called Manuel. Or turn up a day earlier and book it.

Anyone who is anyone in Oslob knows Manuel.

Boat location

You go to the Cuartel (the ruins in Oslob). As you get to the end of the road before you turn into the Cuartel, swing a left instead of right, and at the end you will find a few guys gathered, one of the guys is Manuel. He will know you would be arriving!

Although this sounds really dodgy, but really that’s the best way, the guys are amazing too. They help you with your bags, and they also make sure you both don’t get wet getting onto the boat!

Time to Pangloa from Oslob

If the weather is good, you would be looking at just under 2 hours. Keep in mind if the weather isn't good, chances are you may get a little wet.

Cost of the boat

1,000 pesos ($20 US) through a hotel (you may be able to negotiate)

Arriving at Panglao

Given you have mentioned to Manuel you want to arrive at Alona Beach. You will actually NOT arrive at Alona beach but at another beach a good 5 minutes away by transport.  There will be a tricycle waiting, that will charge 150 pesos (equivalent to $3 US) to Alona Beach or a motorcycle (Habal Habal) charging 100 pesos ($2 US).

These are actually the rates you pay without negotiating. It takes a further 10 minute drive after Alona beach to Amarela Resort a little piece of heaven in the quite part of Panglao.
